Ephemeral Bonds

Everything that is born in the mortal world must eventually die. That is something that everyone learns sooner or later. That is ironically significant because there are existential implications that not everyone acknowledges because not everyone realizes that they are spirit beings. What’s more, it draws a very clear demarcation between human beings and other spirit beings.

The fact that that everyone in this world has to die at some point and that relationships always end are causal in more ways that you might imagine. Simply put, all mundane relationships must end for one reason or another. If not because of a natural growing apart, then because people die one by one.

It is no wonder that all human relationships are as fated to end as the body is doomed to die and decay. Moreover, most “friends” seem to be engaged in some sort of waiting game. In other words, waiting to see who can get the last petty insult in before they die. As human beings would rather revile the dead than mourn overmuch, it is obviously a contest between two losers.

As per relevant and extensive observation, lifelong acquaintances are much more common than lifelong friendships. But even that in and of itself is a rarity. It seems that as the years go by, people need to find new and different ways to distract themselves before they die. There are exceptions to every rule, but that is neither here nor there.

If you were to ask your average spirit being that is not earthbound, they would say that being mortal would be terrifying. That is why there aren’t many among the divine that would alight on earth in such a way. The notion of not only having to come to grips with one’s own mortality, but having to accept that every last loved one will inevitably perish is something that would make any spirit being wish for death.

That is not to say that life on earth has to be all about doom and gloom. However, it is disconcerting to know that cognitive dissonance has to be a way of life for practically everyone in this world. After all, how can one trust someone to be honest with others when they cannot be honest with themselves?

That is probably one of the leading factors that contribute to the downfall of every mundane relationship. The main one, of course, being death itself. There’s also the fact that almost everyone on earth at present was born of evil. That is something that is significant because it is evil nature to think and do harm to others.

They say that in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. If all human beings were blind, such a person would somehow be murdered. That is to say that the inherently unsavory nature of humanity is something that most individuals want to establish as “normal”. It begs the question. With friends like those, who needs enemies? Better yet, don’t answer that.
