It is a term that is thrown around a lot in both mythology and religion alike. But what does it mean to be truly all-powerful? Most, if not all of the old religions whose pantheons have since fallen into myth have been reduced to stories that one might hear about on the internet in some form of media or another. Let’s talk about the consequences or lack thereof in refusing to acknowledge them.

Many people think that mankind created god and not the other way around. Why wouldn’t some people think that? What with the myriad pantheons that turned out to be inconsequential stories and all. It stands to reason that if the supposedly powerful entities of the old religions were real, they would be livid at the thought of being taken lightly by mere mortals. The very thought would be an outrage.

Then there are the stories that you may have heard about adherents of current religions and how they sometimes turn out to be as godless as any so called heathen. Let’s not forget about that which most people try not to think about; the countless atrocities that are committed every day that nobody hears about.

If a so called almighty god is a good as their doctrine says, how can such an entity allow all of the evils of the world to continue? That is precisely the problem with claiming that a particular deity is omnipotent. It is a claim that invites scrutiny and should be one that the corresponding god would be ready and willing to prove in a timely manner.

Take a moment to think about it. Look at how overbearing some people get when they get a little bit of power on the global scale. Now imagine a being that can kill anyone in the spiritual hierarchy at will. Obviously there would be hell to pay for just one blasphemy, let alone a world full of evil pieces of shit that think there is no consequence for their ongoing effrontery.

Cue the fire and brimstone. Call in the cavalry that serve as heaven’s most fearsome enforcers. At least, that is what one would expect from a truly almighty self-esteem. Instead, world history is full of end times prophecies that never live up to the hype. Imagine being afraid of the god who cried wolf. Better yet, don’t waste your time.

At some point there has to be a moment of truth. The fact that so many of the world’s truly unsavory characters get away with being unwary bastards only emboldens the masses to believe that there is no god. It’s the kind of thing that makes the world’s monsters think that evil has no real consequence if the so called powers that be do not catch them in the act.

All of this begs the question, does a truly all-powerful entity really exist? Believe it or not, it is not the kind of thing that can remain unproven forever if it is indeed true. At some point there will arise events that can only be described as apocalyptic. If your namesake “archangel” is out there, surely he will make an appearance in a climactic battle for the ages. Or maybe you shouldn’t believe the hype.
