I recently got my SSL certificate from an organization that gives them out for free and I installed it manually. I see a green padlock and the words “domain validated” next to my domain when I check my SSL status in cpanel, but my browser still says that my website is not SSL encrypted. As it turns out, you have to pay a big company for an SSL certificate that does the exact same thing as the one I have now. I’m hoping that it just takes a while for the green pad lock to show on my browser. Without it, people might shy away from my website because of security concerns. But hey, at least the subscription button takes people to paypal. They definitely have the green padlock on their site.
